Vouauxiella lichenicola on L.chlarotera

Not from Fife this one, but a lichenocolous fungus which starts its work around the rim of the epithecium

Cullaloe Epiphytes - Birch

INTRO
Birches at Cullaloe don't have a great deal of lichens on them - most of what is there is on young branches/twigs. A characteristic species is Lecanora symmicta, which is seemingly present on every twig axil.

Lichen modelling

Lomond Hills Reservoirs, Xanthoparmelia loxodes

A nice morning in the most and easterly wind around the Lomond Hills reservoirs. I managed to mostly dodge the rain, though I did have a bit of a trudge back to the car with my hood up.

Xanthoparmelia loxodes. This one took me some time since I started from the false premise that is was a Melania type. I had to back off to the broader Parmelia group key in Dobson to finally get there.

Verrucaria mucosa, Kinghorn

A nice one from Kinghorn below high water mark, this slimy looking Verrucaria mucosa with a nice pale prothallus, a very smooth, continuous thallus surface and small warty pycnidia
